List of Northern States Owe NECO N2.8bn – Registrar
National Assembly, Abuja - The National Examination Council (NECO) has found out six states which might be owing it N1.eight billion money owed for the scholars they registered in 2019.
Prof. Dantani Wushishi, the Registrar and Chief Executive of NECO, stated northern states are indebted to the exam frame to the tune of N 1.8 billion.
Wushishi said this whilst talking with newsmen in Minna, on Saturday.
He stated: “State governments provide to pay exam costs for applicants from their states however with regards to the real payment, they don’t do it, and that has strapped NECO.
“Zamfara, Adamawa, Kano, Gombe, Borno and Niger state governments are owing the exam body N1.8 billion debt for the students they registered in 2019.”
The list of the six states:
- Zamfara (N1.2 billion)
- Adamawa (N281.4 million)
- Kano (N240.4 million)
- Niger (N234.4 million)
- Borno (N40.2 million)
- Gombe (N7.2 million)
