List of Northern States Owe NECO N2.8bn – Registrar

Prof. Dantani Wushishi, the Registrar and Chief Executive of NECO, stated northern states are indebted to the exam frame to the tune of N 1.8 billion.

Wushishi said this whilst talking with newsmen in Minna, on Saturday.

He stated: “State governments provide to pay exam costs for applicants from their states however with regards to the real payment, they don’t do it, and that has strapped NECO.

“Zamfara, Adamawa, Kano, Gombe, Borno and Niger state governments are owing the exam body N1.8 billion debt for the students they registered in 2019.”

The list of the six states:

  1. Zamfara (N1.2 billion)
  2. Adamawa (N281.4 million)
  3. Kano (N240.4 million)
  4. Niger (N234.4 million)
  5. Borno (N40.2 million)
  6. Gombe (N7.2 million)

He lamented that maximum of the states owing the Council a variety of cash have been but to remit to it, even if the exam frame had now no longer withheld the outcomes of the defaulting states withinside the spirit of mutual respect, togetherness, and understanding.

According to him, the Council had engaged the affected states in speak closer to the amicable decision of the depend.

Wushishi reminded the defaulting states that it become with this cash that NECO paid the body of workers worried in carrying out the examinations, similarly to shopping for wanted substances for the clean behavior of the Senior Secondary School Examination.
