P-Square, Fireboy DML, Angelique Kidjo, others join faces of Afrobeats campaign
Faces of Afrobeats campaign, organised to celebrate African indigenous music, has featured Beninese Grammy award-winner Angélique Kidjo, and Nigerian superstars, P-Square and Fireboy DML.
Other frontier stars of Afrobeats who have joined the campaign include Ghanaian R2Beez amongst others, Vanguard reported on Saturday.
Notable stars across Africa who had featured in the campaign include 2Baba, Burna Boy, Wizkid, Sarkodie, Flavour, Kizz Daniel, Davido, Diamond Platnumz, Focalistic,Yemi Alade, Seyi Shay, Shatta Wale, and many others.
The Director of the campaign, Abass Akeju, hailed the artistes for their contribution in helping Africa sounds gain global recognition.
He said, “Africa’s emergence in the global musical stage is awe-inspiring and enviable. Afrobeats has perfectly cemented its spot at the top and largely as one of the most cherished melodies around the world today.
Our artistes have shown strong commitment in pushing the genre across borders. This is worthy of commendation and that’s chiefly our goal and mission here”.
The playlist of the campaign, which is on Amazon and Spotify, has also featured on New York Times Square Billboard.
