Commission President Neco Dantani Wushishi announced the states with the highest number of exam cheats in a paper titled “Consequences of Examination Malfaractice: closing the gaps and incentives for National Growth” at the 2021 Biennial National Conference and AGM of the Association of Models Islamic Schools.
During the workshop, the chairman of Neco stated that the states that have been exposed to fraud are as follows:
In 2020 these states are ahead as follows:
1. Adamawa leads the test with 18.51%
2. Bauchi is up from 7.88%
3. Kaduna also has 6.87%
4. Kano has 7.88% and Katsina has 18.01%
The president said Bauch, Borno, Kano and Kebbi states had been the worst hit in the last five years. The president said the issuance of exam papers, technical assistance and duplicate copies was at the forefront of ensuring the quality of the results of the exams which in turn provided a boost to the quality of education.
The president called on the government to focus on these problems and provide harsher punishment for those found guilty of cheating on exams.
